  1. The heart

    Home Assistant, local, in the attic

    A small computer where everything meets. No cloud and no subscription: the house keeps working when the internet drops, and what happens at home stays at home. The Zigbee coordinator and the Wi-Fi access points hang straight off it.

  2. Energy

    See what you use, burn what you need

    The smart meter is read every second over its P1 port. The OpenTherm Gateway sits between thermostat and boiler and lets the boiler modulate instead of cycling on and off. Together: usage per hour, and a gas bill that drops without the house getting colder.

  3. Climate

    Every room at its own temperature

    A thermostat downstairs, smart radiator valves in the bedrooms, ventilation that reacts to humidity and CO₂. Heat where you are and not where you aren't — and the bathroom is warm when you get up.

  4. Security

    See who's there, without a manufacturer watching too

    Reolink cameras record locally over PoE, with no subscription. The Eufy doorbell rings on your phone. The smart lock opens for the people you allow and tells you who came in. Motion sensors switch the lights and the alarm.

  5. Light & switching

    Sonoff on Zigbee, behind your own switches

    Modules behind the existing switches, smart bulbs where dimming matters, battery sensors that last years. Zigbee builds its own mesh: every device extends the reach of the rest. No wall has to be opened.

    Apple Home, Siri and one dashboard

    Home Assistant talks to Apple Home, so everything shows up in the Home app and answers to Siri — including devices Apple itself has never heard of. Plus one dashboard on the tablet on the wall, and automations you no longer have to touch.

What you actually notice

  1. 06:30

    The bathroom is warm, the lights come up softly, the boiler is already modulating for the living room.

  2. 08:15

    Door closed: everything off, lock locked, cameras armed, heating one notch down.

  3. 12:40

    A courier rings. You see it on your phone and open the lock remotely — the camera keeps a record of who came.

  4. 17:30

    Your phone turns into the street. Heating and lights are on before you notice you didn't need a key.

  5. 23:00

    One tap: everything off, ventilation to night mode, alarm on. The P1 meter closes the day's books.
